Does SEO really work? On-site vs Off-site SEO Organic SEO

So does SEO really work,… really… well my seo services are the best, and proof is in the results.

to prove a point, the site below has several domain names, one domain name (URL) has the exact same onsite seo on… the old way of doing seo, but I didn’t do any off-site seo on, that domain has had only 2 sales in alltime.

Let me explain, The other domain names, are so well seo’ed off-site they show in google so highly, for many searches the first 4-6 results for relevant keywords are links to  these sites, There are a also quite a few searches where all 10 results on page 1 of google are all for this site.

the domain (url) name is showing in search results but not until the page 2 of google…

It certainly goes to show though, that SEO does in fact work. If the SEO is done correctly by me, it does work anyway.

Like I say, I’m not cheap, but I get results. Write to help1@seobycanz.com or visit my website http://getresultswithseo.com

so they do work here’s some results for one website

The $15,000 (USD) investment made in my seo services in mid March 2010 for 3 global websites, was returned in profits before the past post in June 2010,

I stopped doing SEO on this site back in Mid July 2010. I did 4 months SEO in total.
I won’t need to do anymore SEO now unless he ad’s new products, and wants more work done.

Good SEO worth every penny

When SEO is done correctly you can get some awesome results

with a wise business owner laughing all the way to the bank.

is you haven’t read the past post I made back in July about a website I did seo on since March 21st 2010 read it now.
Website Marketing New Online Store Update.

Back on July 1st, I wrote the above post are about how sales have increased since the website went live in Dec 09.

As an update, my prediction for sales in July 2010 was 150, it was actually 153 different sales so I was pretty close..  oh I may as well copy the sales from that post and update them to the end of Sept.

These are only separate sales, only 15% of the sale were for only 1 item, 56% were for 2 and the other 29% of sales were for 3 or more products, several of this 29% have been for more than 10 different items.
The site has not used any other form of advertising since APRIL 17 2010, just the SEO I did back until the end of June. No SEO has been done since June.
The $15,000 (USD) investment made in my seo services in March 2010 was returned in profits before the past post in July 2010, so all profits for the sales below in red are for the website owner to use as he wishes.

472 Different Sales until (Oct 24th) Updated

Even in the 30 minutes I have writing this post  there have been 8 sales, there are 41 visitors on the site right now, and the site has had over 400 visitors today, and it’s only 4.30 pm where the site is, my prediction is around 600 sales this month…. I’ll let you know how close I am. :)

Better Website Statistics far superior to Google Analytics

I’ve been using a new website analytics (Website Visitor Statistics), is is by far superior to Google analytics, it works the same way, you add a piece of code to the footer of your website or blog. These analytics track your visitors in real time so you could change things on your website immediately to improve sales or whatever. Just one of the features you can watch on a world map, the visitors that are on your site in real time, and can see what clicks they make all the second they click a link.

Follow that link, go visit the site and sign up for at least a free version, You’ll love all the things you can do, Click Here
Still need convincing? Read on.

Another feature that is awesome is the IP Tracking, you can set a goal like a sale complete through PayPal, setting a goal not that amazing right. What is amazing is you can track any visitors IP for indefinitely with the version I use, or for 30 days with the free version, tracking an IP address means you can see if they have visited the site before and what they did on each visit. Helps keep me the best SEO

Here’s an example:

I just checked the history of someone that brought a costume on vassup.co.uk this visitor came to the site from a bookmark or direct address typed in the address bar, the first url they landed on was too long to have typed, so it had to have been a bookmark. A bookmark means they have been to the site before right… so I looked at that IP’s history.

10 days ago that visitor came to the site from link on a blog post I made.

they made 8 clicks, stayed 3m 43s, so they had a bit of a look around but they first looked at a product that was out of stock.

5 days later ago came back and checked on particular product, 2 clicks, they stayed only 7s, the product was still out of stock.

Today they came back and had a good look around, went to another blog the site has, came back looked around again, 18 clicks stayed for 17m 16s and brought the costume they had been looking at 5 and 10 days ago. After they brought the costume they looked at 4 more pages of other fancy dress costumes…

3 Hours after they brought the costume, they came back again 2 clicks, and looked at the costume they had brought for 1m 9s. Then I looked at another part of this analytics that track visitors and social media usage, this person made a tweet about the costume they had brought.  From that tweet 9 other visitors have been to site so far today.

Ok, for your voyeurs out there that would love to see website or blog statistics like this in real time, the site offers a free account for a single website or blog, there are certain limits, like you can only track 1 website,  tracking an IP, like I illustrated above, for 30 days rather than unlimited, but hey it’s free.

For the first 21 days you get a free trial of the Pro service, I upgraded from the free version to the super pro version after 22 hours, I loved the analytics so much. Now I I’m tracking most of my current clients analytics…

Ok, so your all wondering what this awesome website analytics (Visitor Statistics) is right. Follow that link, go visit the site and sign up for at least a free version, You’ll love all the things you can do, Click Here

How long does seo take to work? How many months does SEO take?

So how long does it take for SEO to work?

How many months does SEO take? When can I expect SEO to start working? These are all valid questions, it seems that every seo website you go to will say a different thing…. the plain truth is.

If a website has been online for a few months, and if the search engines have found and indexed your site, SEO will start working within a few days, from the SEO finishing the initial SEO, the best result I ever have had was 32 hours …. yes… thirty two hours from when I did the initial SEO, results started showing in search engines.

This site I’m talking about did not show in google search results for any phrase at a spot less than 70th place. The site had been online for 2 years, and had had no visitors at all through search engines.

I started working with the website as soon as I had the information to login to the site the same day the payment check cleared, I did some basic on the 10 main pages, just to say, hey google watch out Lynny’s from Canz SEO extraordinaire is on the job, and went to bed…. well come on it was late, the owner didn’t said me the login info until after midnight… ok so I went to bed.

I then spent the next day 20 hours researching what words would be the most effective, for this website, and though, whoops I forgot to to run my little programs that give me a baseline to work with, so I worked out a list of 50 keywords and ran the program while I was doing the last of the research.

By the time the baseline program I used was finished it was almost 32 hours since I had done some very basic seo…. and to my amazment 10 keywords were ranking in google in the top 3 positions.

One set of keywords for each page I did. I have to admit thats the quickest I had every seen changes actually get into google search results… but then I had never checked that early before. Ever since, many times with an existing site I have checked after 2 days and results are starting to be listed in google, it like with a old website google is just aching to rank it better, but can’t if it’s not optimised, but once it is, google likes to give almost instant gratifaction.

ROI for SEO by CANZ

I’ve just written another page for my site, about the Return on Investment(ROI) my SEO clients are are receiving, it’s pretty impressive if I do say so myself.

My clients on average are getting a 100% return on their investment is my seo services within 3 months, and then getting at least a 100% return each month after that. These figures are for existing websites that have been online for 2-5 years, usually with no sales at all, although one client I’m offering SEO consultant services too, did have a very good monthly turnover before we start, it’s just 3 times as much now after 7 months.

My clients are happy campers, and most are happy to increase the amount of SEO they are receiving.

All except one client, who was happy to increase what she was paying me, but I told her that it would be best to give the SEO we had done a rest for 3 months, let it all settle down, and see how things were, then in Auguat we’d look at doing another blize on the SEO in time for next Christmas.

Anyway, read about it here http://www.thisseogetsresults.com/ROI_for_SEO_Services SEO Services San Diego

SEO that Lives Locally San Diego

Many people still don’t get how the internet works, and still look for someone to make their website or do SEO on their website, someone that lives locally. Yet there is no need what-so-ever.
I was straightening up my files today, and thought you maybe interested in some of the places I have done SEO for on websites from all over the world, These are most of the places I have worked on in the last year.
New Zealand, Auckland x 6, Northland x 2, Tauranga x 3, Invercargill x2, Wellington x 4, Christchurch x7, Mount Cook, Wanaka…
In Australia, Sydney x 3, Brisbane x 2, Queensland x 2, Perth x 4, Melbourne, Tasmania, Cairns
England, Chester, Crosley, Bristol x 7, Liverpool x 2 …
USA. San Diego x 4, Los Vegas, San Francisco, Stockton, Dayton …

I very occainsionally ring any of my SEO clients, everything is usually done via email, and sometimes MSN, payments are made generally via Paypal, or some other form of online payment system.

So why is it that about once a month I get an email from someone that lives in Auckland or Rotorua each are about 2 hours drive from where I live, asking if I could do SEO for their website or better still asking if I know of anyone in their area that does SEO.

So for the record, I will be living in San Diego soon, so anyone in that area that needs an SEO that get’s great results I am happy to start your SEO before I get their, “Grin”

How to tell a good SEO.

So if their are so many sleazy SEO out their, how do you tell them from the good ones.

1. A good SEO won’t give you a quote before they know all the details about your website and what results you want to achieve, unless that quote is for at least multiple $10,000.

2. A good SEO will usually talk in words you understand, rather than try to boggle you with geek speak.

3. A good SEO will probably ask you your budget, and work within that budget.

4. A good SEO will ask you a lot of questions, you may think some questions are odd, but the less guesswork a SEO has to do the more likely you are to get a good job.

5. A good SEO will invite you to ring them to discuss your needs. Although a lot of work from home’s myself included, don’t like to give out their home address, honest people are quite happy to give out their phone numbers… ring them, at least once to confirm that the number they gave is the correct one. A landline number is perferable over a cell phone one.

6. A good SEO will never make rash promises, like yes I can get you to #1 position especially before they have researched the phrases you are after.

7. A good SEO will always ask if they can have access to the geeky side of a website, before they give you a quote, remember this, before you get a quote, you SEO should know if they can have access to the backend of the website… this doesn’t mean that they have to be able to access it, but if they can’t the SEO work that has to be done is quite different, much more time consuming so will cost more, or the type of work they do is the sleazy type, that can be turned off if you stop paying the monthly SEO fee, that might not have been mentioned in the original quote.

8. A good SEO will always be happy to answer your questions, and will be happy for you to question them, I have had a client say they were going to contact someone that knew SEO, I gave them all my contact details to pass onto their friend. Good SEO have nothing to hide about their work.

SEO isn’t a one off thing that can be done, that works the same with every website, sure there are some things that every website needs, but each website, in my experience is unique, even two website selling the same thing.
SEO is an ongoing process, and although some SEO make one charge which includes the ongoing work, if you see or hear an SEO saying, your site will take a week or a month to do then be weary.

Ask your SEO what they are going to do to your website, then contact someone like me, offer to pay me $100 to look over their list, I promise you the $100 you pay me will be the best money you ever spend. Cause if there’s something sleazy in there, I’ll pick them up on it. Often it’s the way something is worded, not what it says that’s the tip off. And very often people that don’t speak you native language will take advantage of this.

Learning SEO the hard way…

I had someone track me down through this blog today, and ask me how I learnt about SEO, and did I have any certificates to prove how good I was. (i think he doubted me)

Anyway, no. I didn’t learn SEO from a school, I learnt it by trial and error, but thought you might be interested to know about my humble beginnings.

I first started learning about SEO almost 7 years ago, before I knew it had a name.

We owned a Stock Photography Bank, and I noticed that if words were repeated on a page several times, that that page was like to appear higher in search engine results, the more times the word was repeated the higher it would appear in search engine results.

Through my interest, and inquistive nature, I realised if the title of the webpage – the bit that shows at on the top bar of your browser – had the same keywords, the page didn’t need to have the word repeated so many times and yet it would still appear high, and sometimes higher, in search engines.

Time went on, and I learnt how to read the code that makes up any webpage, and found there were other places that, if the keywords were repeated, that the page would rank even better in search engines.

Through applying what I learnt, and I have to admit making a few mistakes, I managed to get our Stock Photo Bank, ranking right up on page one of Google, often higher than the world’s largest stock photo banks like Corbis and Getty.

Once I saw this happening I was hooked. I found out about website statistics, and how to find out how many people were visiting my website, where they were coming from, what browsers they used, even what time of day they visited most, and then noticed how visitors rose at the same time my website started ranking well, and that each change I made that increased our site visablity, increased the amount of visitors. Now I was an utter addict.

I also found that changing the words slightly on every page, I could get the website listing higher for many different search.

Whats this SEO thing?
Somewhere about here, someone told me about SEO, and how it sounded like pretty much like what I was doing.

I joined a few forums, and mailing lists (about 50 different things). And yes, that’s what I had been doing. I found though that many of the SEO big wigs were giving people information of how to do things, and the information wasn’t true. It sounded good, but from experience I knew better ways of doing it.

I started adding my comments to posts and got a few people’s dander up: who was I, an uneducated hick from New Zealand of all places, telling them what to do… I didn’t tell anyone what to do, I just suggested different ways…. and when I pointed out the SEO was so new, it was, and still is hard to get an education from anywhere, I was barred from a forum.

I still belong to a few forums, that aren’t owned by SEO gurus, but usually withhold my comments now or at least the ones I make on forums. Anyway back then….

I had the coder that kept the photo gallery running, and had him add SEO features, and so were the beginnings of a SEF CMS. I didn’t know then 6 years later I would eventually build a Search Engine Friendly, Content Management System.

We started building website for other people. And I applied what I knew to their sites, not realizing others could see the skills I had. Then someone wrote to me, about our stock photo bank, and asked why they always saw it in search engines, for every search they ever did for photos and stock photos. He asked me if i could do the same thing with his site, and offered me $1000…. wow this was cool, getting paid for something I would have done for free!

And so it went, I wouldn’t and won’t take a job unless I knew I could make a difference, and until recently websites that were database driven were a challenge I couldn’t rise to – I didn’t know how to edit codes for these sites, as it was very different to sites that where html.

Recently I met a coder, who is now working for me regularly, that will add coding to database driven website, opening up a whole new world be me, so now I can do SEO on any website I’m presented with.

To date I have done SEO on over different 40 websites, and am currently working on 7 sites, I have a personal limit of 10 sites at a time, as I like to give each site the time it deserves.

I now have 4 people working for me, doing the more time consuming aspects of SEO’s like directory submissions, and finding linking partners, but I always do the important work myself as I like to know exactly what’s going on.

I understand that people coming to me for my services are in need of help, and often wonder if the investment I’m asking them to make will be worthwhile, when I know they have tried so many other things, and are dubious about this working. The least I can do is make sure it works, and the only way to do that is to do the work myself.

I have noticed that other people I employ to work for me, just don’t have the instinct or gut feelings that are needed to be an SEO, and while they are happy to do the work, they just can’t see how important it is, that any payment they may get must bring results to the person that paid them.

My goal with SEO is to earn $2000USD a month, and with up to 10 smaller business paying me $200 a month on average, this is obtainable. Sure I should charge more than what I do, but to be quite honest, I don’t want to earn that $2000 and more from just one big company, but at the rate I should charge, I would only be working 20 hours a month.

I live on the computer, so could do 20 hours work in one sitting, what would I do for the rest of the month? I’d far rather help out 10 smaller businesses, and work for less, and give those 10 clients more results than they expect.

Why the hedgehog mascot? Hedgehogs are inquisitive, and nose into every nook and cranny, looking for interesting stuff to eat, they have very big mouths, and are really good at spitting out what they don’t like…. that pretty much sums me up, I look around for all sorts of information and I devour anything that SEO related and spit out the junk.

SEO in Action
Case Study Two

Optimizing a Large E-commerce Website for Google

Invest in SEO and watch the number of visitors to your site grow, and Grow and GROW

This site has been optimized for Google in particular.

The site sells gemstones; the average price for one gemstone is around $120.

When this client first came to us, they had had a website for 2 years, and Average visitors over three years
had not had a single sale.

We redesigned the website, making the buying process as simple as possible using PayPal, and made the site look very professional (trustworthy).

We also did some basic SEO work on the site as we were building it and built the site on a CMS so the client could add and change new products herself.
The client prefers to get us to design other pages on her website, as she knows she isn’t a web designer, and wants her site to stay looking professional. Her site updates, as with any of our clients are done within 24 hours.

They had their first sale 1 month to the day after the new site was online.

Within 10 weeks they had enough sales to have paid for the site redesign and SEO.

The owner was very proactive, and went about finding link exchanges for the site, and promoting the website anyway she could.

Feb 06. 18 months later she asked me if I could do anything to increase the visitors to the site, they were getting sales, but the sales were irregular and they could easily manage to fill more orders.

At that stage they just gotten 1809 in Jan 06.

The client couldn’t spend too much at that stage to pay me for my work, so we agreed to 1 hour a month SEO work.

Immediately there was an increase of traffic to the site of just over 600 visitors a month.

In November 06, I did 3 hours SEO work on the site, which resulted in an increase of 1200 new visitors that month. It could be said that Nov – Dec would attract more visitors anyway, however that wasn’t the case the year before.

Since the New Year 07 I have been doing just 2 hours a month, and visitors have increased by almost 1000 that month by May 07.

Sales have increased threefold since January 06 at a steady rate.
Visitors increasing between Oct 06 and oct07
In early March I submitted this sites details to 300 directory’s since this is the type of site that people would look for in directory’s.

Since the submission were all free, none with reciprocal links, the submissions were not accepted immediately, but directories always check the sites before acceptance them so the numbers increased artificially for that month.

April the submissions started being accepted, and I attribute some of May’s visitors to those directory listings. April being Tax month, is historically a bad month for this and many other none essential products websites. If you look at the image to the right you will see the statistics for this site from Oct 06 to Oct 07.

But just looking at these statistics, you can see that the increase in hours and the directory submission has definitely paid off. 11220 Visitors in Oct 07

An Investment of $2500 over 19 months has meant in gradual increase to 9300 visitors a month

Get your SEO quote Now!!! Lynny@canzdesign.com

Look at the image to the right to see the key phrases that ranked #1 & #2 in Google.com.au sink. The site is owned by an Australian, and this is her preferred search engine to do well in, but she does just as well in Google.com for many of the same phrases.

Take a look at her site Gemstones and Jewellery

So you can see the search phrases are definitely the sort of products this site would sell and reasonably competitive key phrases.

I will run this test on any search engines you would like worldwide for $10 per 50 keyphrases per search engine. Just email me a list of keyphrases on a text document along with a list of the search engines you would like me to check, and paypal me the correct amount. Lynny@canzdesign.com If you would like to search more than 10 search engines, the price reduces to $5 per search engine after the 10th one.

EG: 20 search engines up to 50 key phrases (the same ones for each search engine) $150USD

Cheers

The Best SEO

Got to even things out, a good testimonal

Dear Lynn,

It has been a pleasure working with you and a much improved service from my previous website designer and SEO.

I found Lynn by doing a google search for website optimization I can’t remember the exact search I think SEO Price List, and Lynn was the top listing. I felt that if she had got herself to the top of the page under optimization she must know what she was doing.

I contacted her and she promptly replied with a reasonable quote and promised she could make the changes that were needed in a short period of time.

Over the next 3 days Lynn worked night and day on my site and was so enthusiastic about making the changes she ended up doing more than she had promised.

Lynn is constantly checking my site on a regular basis to see where we are sitting on the search engines, within 3 weeks of Lynn making her changes I have gone from about page 20 to page 2, with more changes in progress we may make page 1 by Christmas.

I would recommend Lynn to anybody wanting efficient, fairly priced service with a personal enthusiasm to your company.

Thank you Lynn for all your hard work, it is paying off and improved my business 100 percent.

Thanks

Nicky Whineray-Blair
Boxit Ltd – http://www.boxit.co.nz/

Well thank you, Nicky, I’ve enjoyed every minute of getting your site to where it is, and where it will be for months, years…….
I just checked the word boxes and it’s at #6 on page 1 of google.co.nz “the Web” search and #8 on page 1 for “Search New Zealand”

That’s darn good, I’m so good… hehehe…. that particular keyword wasn’t anywhere in the first 1000 results when I started, and ranking so well for a single keyword is really good. And of course you know about all the key phrases that are at at #1

I’ve done some more work on that word today, so it should come up a little higher yet. I will be interested to see where your site is by April next year as well.

I think I have worked out how to make multiple directories.

Warning this post is just for fun, don’t take seriously!!!!!!

I was just burbling away on my other blog, wondering how people could get banned for having too many backlinks to quickly, and I think I might know how or why.

If you were uncouth and into blackhat SEO have a directory database, and linked to the same database for several directory’s then linked each directory to each other from a none database webpage. You could probably build up pagerank quite well correct?
Then is you entered new links into the database it would show up on several “different sites” in a matter of seconds. Do this say 300 domain names, and each domain name have say 10 subdomains, you’d have 3,000 websites.
I mean even if you had 300 databases just servicing their own subdomains, it still would be possible to add a new link to all 300 databases in a few hours. Result, would be 3,000 new links to your site in one day. If you sold that service, to even only $300 per sucker, (tell them it would take 30 days to do all those submittions), you’d only need what 20 suckers, to cover costs, and make a profit, it would probably be a couple of months before google caught on and banned your site. Then you could sell the domain names off cheap on ebay or something.

I wonder how long it would take for google to catch on, to get your pagerank up, you would need to add some content that was sort of unique, but hell you can buy content for 5 cents per page and if you that unclouth, you’d probably steal it anyway…..

Make you wonder if it could work huh, the databases would probably be slow, if you linked to them from too many sites, but you only want google to spider them anyway. Or would you…. you’d probably be gone before any of your poor suckers caught on.

I have been reading about all sorts of sleezy tricks people are doing to up ther page rank. I think my idea, is actually just pie in the sky and wouldn’t work, but hell I exercised my brain, and had good fun, so what the hell.
