So does SEO really work,… really… well my seo services are the best, and proof is in the results.

to prove a point, the site below has several domain names, one domain name (URL) has the exact same onsite seo on… the old way of doing seo, but I didn’t do any off-site seo on, that domain has had only 2 sales in alltime.

Let me explain, The other domain names, are so well seo’ed off-site they show in google so highly, for many searches the first 4-6 results for relevant keywords are links to  these sites, There are a also quite a few searches where all 10 results on page 1 of google are all for this site.

the domain (url) name is showing in search results but not until the page 2 of google…

It certainly goes to show though, that SEO does in fact work. If the SEO is done correctly by me, it does work anyway.

I stopped doing SEO on this site back in Mid July 2010. I did 4 months SEO in total.

Now a week away from Halloween, sales are doing well. there have been many more sales in the past 16  hours, the Americans have left buying costumes in the main part until last week, and so many in the past 17 hours…
there are 65 visitors on the site right now, and orders coming n every 2-4 minutes at the moment, and the site has had over 580 so far visitors today, and it’s only4.50 am in England, where the site is, and almost 9am in California,  since sales are at 1 week away from Halloween are 472, with sale until now yesterday, I increase my prediction to 692  from 600 sales  Oct …. I’ll let you know how close I am.

Back on July 1st, I wrote the above post are about how sales have increased since the website went live in Dec 09.

As an update, my prediction for sales in July 2010 was 150, it was actually 153 different sales so I was pretty close..  oh I may as well copy the sales from that post and update them to the end of Sept.

These are only separate sales, only 15% of the sale were for only 1 item, 56% were for 2 and the other 29% of sales were for 3 or more products, several of this 29% have been for more than 10 different items.
The site has not used any other form of advertising since APRIL 17 2010, just the SEO I did back until the end of June. No SEO has been done since June.
The $15,000 (USD) investment made in my seo services in March 2010 was returned in profits before the past post in July 2010, so all profits for the sales below in red are for the website owner to use as he wishes.

Sales for Oct 2010 even in the first 7 days are way way way up, with Halloween on Oct 31st there’s still another couple of weeks for great sales. Even in the 30 minutes I have writing this post  there have been 8 sales, there are 41 visitors on the site right now, and the site has had over 400 visitors today, and it’s only 4.30 pm where the site is, my prediction is around 600 sales this month…. I’ll let you know how close I am.

How Long does SEO Take? That’s a reason question, unfortunately the answer is it all depends. First do you mean  

How long does SEO take to DO? In other words, if you hire an seo to do your seo, how long will it take for them to their magic tricks?

This really depends on your SEO budget, how skilled your SEO is, and how often google and other search engines are visiting your site…. and if your site is search engine friendly in the first place. With my clients, I generally start on the SEO fairly quickly.

I do basic SEO, things that will make the search engines take notice, and start looking around the site more frequently, while the search engines are doing their thing, I do research finding out what are the best SEO strategy’s for this particular site considering the budget.

implement those strategy’s which use the budget in the best way. then if the clients budget allows I will carry on with the SEO making the website rank well permanently for highly sort after keyphrases. So the answer is,

A few days from when the SEO starts, for basic seo.

How long does SEO take to WORK?

For the seo work to start to appear in search engine rankings, can take anything from a few hours, to a few weeks, a lot depend on how often search engines are visiting the site, and if the navigation within the site is search engine friendly. (that’s one reason I make quick changes, so I can see google progress through a site) I’m working on a site at the moment, it has over 300 pages, and yet google has only found 7 pages for a sitewide change I made over a week ago, just as a test.

Obviously something is very wrong. The problem is, the first results in search engines aren’t final. So if you have SEO done and your site ranks #3 within a few days, then chances are that ranking will only maintain for a short while, it depend a lot on how popular the keywords are you are wanting to rank highly for.

In saying above I have worked on sites that don’t want to rank for competitive keywords, or are niche sites, and their sites have ranked well quickly and stayed ranking highly for one phrase, we then branched out and started working on different keywords.

A website selling gemstones the owners live Sapphire Australia has been a webdesign client and seo client for many years, the owner recently decided to move their site to our new cms website that is seo friendly, so search engines will rank it better than they already do.

The owner has always been able to add more gemstones or remove sold ones, but with the move she will now find it easy enough to edit her pages as well.

Upgrading the database that runs the site, will mean the webpages themselves are much more seo friendly, this site already ranks highly on page 1 of google for many keywords about the products they sell, and this will only make them rank even better quite possibly for 1000’s of different keywords.

So how long does it take for SEO to work?

How many months does SEO take? When can I expect SEO to start working? These are all valid questions, it seems that every seo website you go to will say a different thing…. the plain truth is.

If a website has been online for a few months, and if the search engines have found and indexed your site, SEO will start working within a few days, from the SEO finishing the initial SEO, the best result I ever have had was 32 hours …. yes… thirty two hours from when I did the initial SEO, results started showing in search engines.

This site I’m talking about did not show in google search results for any phrase at a spot less than 70th place. The site had been online for 2 years, and had had no visitors at all through search engines.

I started working with the website as soon as I had the information to login to the site the same day the payment check cleared, I did some basic on the 10 main pages, just to say, hey google watch out Lynny’s from Canz SEO extraordinaire is on the job, and went to bed…. well come on it was late, the owner didn’t said me the login info until after midnight… ok so I went to bed.

I then spent the next day 20 hours researching what words would be the most effective, for this website, and though, whoops I forgot to to run my little programs that give me a baseline to work with, so I worked out a list of 50 keywords and ran the program while I was doing the last of the research.

By the time the baseline program I used was finished it was almost 32 hours since I had done some very basic seo…. and to my amazment 10 keywords were ranking in google in the top 3 positions.

One set of keywords for each page I did. I have to admit thats the quickest I had every seen changes actually get into google search results… but then I had never checked that early before. Ever since, many times with an existing site I have checked after 2 days and results are starting to be listed in google, it like with a old website google is just aching to rank it better, but can’t if it’s not optimised, but once it is, google likes to give almost instant gratifaction.

The majority of a good seo’s work is research, finding out what are the best words to optimize a website for, often the results are quite stunning, and results I would never have thought of personally. Take the industry I’m in for example. SEO, seo is one of the hottest industries on the internet behind adult or sex industry sites, so what would be the most searched for words or this seo industry would you think?  

organic seo company seo business seo services seo company seo service Well if you go to google adword keyword picker, and check what top phrase being paid for it’s organic seo company you have to pay over $12 per click to appear between 1st and 3rd in the adword results, so you may think that is the most searched for, since adwords users pay so much for the phrase. At the same time the phrase, SEO services only costs just over $6.00 per click, so you may deduce from that that seo services isn’t that much in demand.

That’s makes sense doesn’t it? It costs less that half as much to rank highly in the top places for SEO Services, so it can’t be a very popular keyphrase right? So do you agree? If you do, you would do well to contact me, and have me work for you to help you choose your keywords, since seo services is searched for approx 57 more times than organic seo company if you investgrate furture at the same place, and with even more investagating will say that in fact globally SEO services is actually searched for 431 times more often than organic seo company.
 
So why on earth would anyone pay twice as much to rank highly in adwords for a phrase that hardly anyone actually searches for. The trick is you don’t, google just tries to trick you into doing that… you just have to know where to look to find out approximate search volumes… and think about this, a business that is paying over $12.00 for the keyphrase organic seo company what sort of seo company can they be, if they didn’t work out they didn’t have to pay that much for a pay per click program… the overall meaning for organic seo is seo that means you don’t have to use pay per click, your webpages rank highly in search engines naturally or organically and they are using pay per click to try to get their clients….

If an SEO company can’t even get it together to work out their own seo, how could they possibly do it for any other business.

I’ve recently taken part in a conversation about internal linking, and thought I would share that conversation with you.

Internal linking is like it sounds, is linking within pages of the same site.

Oliver another group member, was saying that internal linking was important, but it had to be done the right way, and not just willy nilly, and linking from brown shoes to a brown truck isn’t as worthwhile as linking brown shoes to a page with other brown clothing, while this is true to an extent, it’s not generally the case, because of the nature of a web site which is usually pages related to other pages with the same theme.

I haven’t seen any proof that brown shoes should only be linked to other pages with brown clothing, and not to brown furniture or brown trucks. I would very much like to see proof of that working to give more link juice to a page.

It makes sense to link from pages of brown clothing to other pages of brown clothing, just for the visitors convenience but I don’t think or I should say I haven’t seen evidence that Google has some sort of list of all possible clothing items and give a link 2 less brownie point for a link to a brown car rather than a brown hat.

It might be true that linking between pages that had other types of similes like, brown blouse and brown dress, that were both woman’s clothes, and had similar sizing, and were all brown might make a difference, but then in real life stores online that sell those sort of products usually sell all colors and sizes for a particular style on the same page. but the idea is there.

Mens Brown shoes, style c4, manufacture name x, color number 101 to Mens brown shoes style g9, made by manufacture name x, color number 101 would probably have more juice, but just because of the other factors.

I suppose this sort of example could be used to “show” a client how valuable your SEO advice was, because it sounds good, and like it might be right, but is it actually one of the parts of an Googles Secret Recipe for ranking a page, I think not, but like I said I would like to be proved wrong.

Google is after all, just a database, that searches for exact words and phrases, and now is looking for similar to words or means the same as words and phrases, and matches them up, granted it does a fantastic job of matching that words and phrases, but it’s not thinking for itself yet…. or is it…. lol…

I’ve had 2 SEO clients ask me within 2 days, if there’s a way to un-optimized their website. They had no idea what a difference SEO could make, and are unprepared for the influx of new business.

Another client mentioned a few weeks back that her stocks were getting very low, and she had more sold gems on her site than ones for sale, I recently went and deleted over 250 products off her site, just to help her out, she has a slow internet connection in outback Australia…

Its an interesting problem, everyone that is looking for SEO is looking for more sales, more patients, more something from their websites, but I don’t think any of my clients have thought ahead.

What is the back-up plan when the SEO really REALLY works? Ok so they could maybe handle twice or even three times as many orders, as there are now.

But what happens when the order’s have become 20 or 30 fold order’s within 3 months, when trips to the post office to post orders off, used to be a couple times a week, and are now 3, 4 or 6 times a day.

What happens if the 3 emails you receive a week asking about your services, suddenly turns into 20 a day. What happens if say a doctor’s office is used for getting say 5 or 6 new patients a month from various advertising, and suddenly it’s up to 25 one month and 55 new patients the next month, there’s still all the original patients that need seeing too, people often need to see the doctor quickly…

Have you ever thought what would happen, or have any strategy’s worked out, if suddenly your business became super successful, or are you still struggling with getting your business to pay the rent or even hosting for your website… I’d suggest you spend a little free time working on a success plan, find out who has the best parcel pick-up and delivery service, work out how long it would take to hire and train new staff members, look at the price of a bigger premises, whatever your business would need if it became successful within 2 months, plan for success|!!!

Even looking at if you want to expand your business, do you want to be bother with staff, with renting premises, or if you just want to have you business as a paying hobby, or even just an income for your family, it would still pay to think ahead, and maybe when thinking about getting SEO tell your seo what you expect, maybe the cost of the seo could be reduced.

Personally I have never heard of anyone asking their SEO to cool it or stop, although i have done it myself for our own sites, when things got to busy, most people I’ve come across are happy with a minimal increase in sales of whatever type, but with the recession, and working out some excellent SEO techniques for myself, I have begun supercharging my clients websites, maybe I’ll have to tone it down a bit myself

There’s a belief system of some group or other, that what you think about will come into being, perhaps if you plan for success you won’t even need me as your SEO lol….

Note to the average reader, this post is not the easiest to read, I just had to let off steam.

I’ve had an seo client for 2 months, and give up on as a client that isn’t ever going to learn, and I haven’t got the time or energy to do their SEO anymore. Whats wrong you may ask? With this client, I have done 50 hours of unpaid work for them, cleaning up the code for their website, to make it easier for me to work on in the future… plus the $350 worth of SEO worth each month.

I’ve done the same work, both clean-up and SEO work 2 times now, and each month once their payment clears I go back to the site to download the latest versions of the pages to work on, which is a just good habit to get into, in case some change has been made, these should be exactly the same as what I uploaded the previous month, since I’m supposed to be the only person working on the site.

But each time the work I did the previous month has been overwritten with older versions of the site, and not has it been overwritten, it was overwritten with a couple of days of me doing and uploading it.

So all the work I have done is undone, before google has even seen it. The first month I thought the old SEO had hacked the site, and since i had a hard-drive die on me, I didn’t have the files I uploaded, so redid the work, and re-uploaded it straight away, at the beginning of March, I again discovered the code was the old one, so cleaned it up and redid the SEO work.

Now the owner, really can’t see why I shouldn’t do it again. The client swears it’s not anyone there that doing this, but today I get an email saying uploads have been done, they were supposed to upload 5 or so pages.

Since I had done this months SEO already, and uploaded it on Saturday,(because I got sick of waiting for these 5 pages to be uploaded, it’s been almost a month getting here, and the website owner was bitching that I hadn’t worked on his site), and I agreed to redo these 5 pages. when they got around too uploading them….. so I go to look at the pages in the file manager , every single page including the google verification file has been uploaded over my SEO work done on Saturday.

It turns out that the sites owners staff have done all sorts of work to the site they never bothered to tell me about, so it’s not just a case of reuploading the work I did, the business owner was most put out when I said I wouldn’t redo the work yet again on the new pages uploaded today.

Even though I explained first that I had done 60 hours this month getting the site fixed again, his response was well you can do it again.

Before this happened today, he wrote on the weekend after I finished uploading saying they couldn’t afford to pay me for a couple of months, with the insinuation that my SEO work wasn’t working….
 
OF COURSE THE SEO IS NOT WORKING…… IT’S BEING OVERWRITTEN EVERY MONTH……..Faster than I can do the work.
 
So I again have another SEO space in my timetable. So anyone out there wanting SEO Consultancy I’m sick of offering SEO Services.

I’ve just written another page for my site, about the Return on Investment(ROI) my SEO clients are are receiving, it’s pretty impressive if I do say so myself.

My clients on average are getting a 100% return on their investment is my seo services within 3 months, and then getting at least a 100% return each month after that. These figures are for existing websites that have been online for 2-5 years, usually with no sales at all, although one client I’m offering SEO consultant services too, did have a very good monthly turnover before we start, it’s just 3 times as much now after 7 months.

My clients are happy campers, and most are happy to increase the amount of SEO they are receiving.

All except one client, who was happy to increase what she was paying me, but I told her that it would be best to give the SEO we had done a rest for 3 months, let it all settle down, and see how things were, then in Auguat we’d look at doing another blize on the SEO in time for next Christmas.

Dentist in Chula Vista, SD Loves Results of My SEO Services. I’m doing SEO on few websites for a San Diego Dentist, it’s part of a large project doing 4 different websites.
This dentist has had a website for 3 years, and never had a patient from come to him after seeing his site. Ok, so Kym head of graphic design and website development from CANZ Design rebuilt the site… and is still working on it… but almost done. I the SEO, have highly targeted a few keywords, the procedures that he loves doing including Braces and Implants. So far they have had only 703 visitors to the site since it opened, on the 24^th of January, honestly I have to admit, probably about 100 of those visitors have been Me, working on the SEO on the CMS that runs the site… J
The site opened on January 24th ‘09.
January: No new patients in the first 7 days, no big surprises there… February:– 2 new patients one for Braces, and one for Emergency Weekend Dental Care in San Diego. March: 1^st – 15^th
 
Wait for it… Drum roll Please, only 199 visitors in the first 15 days of March 09 …. not that impressive huh…. ok, undrum roll that… Click this Link, the picture won’t display well in this blog. http://seobycanz.com/images/Dentist-march-1-15.JPG What is Impressive, and a really big drum roll now, is the number of new patients, this San Diego Dentist Received, via his website… 12 new patients. 

Update: 16 visitors became patients in the month of March, that’s 4% of visitors all visitors to his site for March, became new patients. That’s pretty darn impressive I think,

I have one particular client that I’ve written about before, that is my pride and joy, she owns a breastfeeding Products e-commerce store in New Zealand.

She and I have worked together on her website since August 08, well she’s done the work, I have just told her what to do, with my SEO consultant service and she is always exceeding my expect ions, if I say to do 5 things she’ll do 8, she really is a wonderful young woman.

In my last post about getting on Google, I posted it before I was finished writing it something came up, anyway I’m back to post more. In the meantime I had a good comment for the last post.

In the comment he referred to an SEO business he had found that that had given him an affordable price, and touched base daily.

I’ll look at affordable prices first, affordable is a relative term, what I consider affordable you may consider cheap, what you consider affordable, I may consider cheap. I have given quotes from $100 a month, to $11,000 a month, it goes without saying that the progress is slower for $100 a month. And $11,000 a month is almost a full time job. Getting on Google could be a lot less or a lot more expensive than you would think.

It’s far less time consuming to just make the quote for what is in their price range. It is a common disbelief that adding your website to directories all over the web will raise your own sites pagerank. Especially if those directories have high page rank themselves.

This for the main part is NOT true, it doesn’t matter how high a directory’s pagerank is, but the time it get’s to a level where your site is listed, the page rank is zero, and will never get any higher. There are a few directories that have been around for years, that are worth adding your site to like dmoz but the rest of them, and programs like the pageranksubmit.com are a waste of money, if all you want to do is raise your page rank.

See this is generally how pagerank seems to work the home page of a site will have the highest page rank, links direct off that homepage, that are links that don’t use JavaScript or flash, have a page rank one point lower than the home page, and then pages off these pages that aren’t using JavaScript or flash to make the links have a page rank of 2 less than the home page, this is generally how it works, unless the second level of pages have a large amount of links, which directory’s do then the pagerank is lost by the second page, and often you have to click in 5 or 6 links deep before you get to a place to add your website.

There is no page rank there, and if there’s no page rank on the page your link is on, then it doesn’t have any effect on your pagerank.

So don’t waste your money paying a high rice for directory submissions to directories with high page rank, usually the reason they have high page rank, is because they have used code, stopping the page rank from draining into links inside their site.

Just use a cheap directory submission place, this one charges only 14 cents per submission, and yes it’s a affiliate link but I only recommend products that I use, and this is one of the few things I do use.

SEO done right the first time

I often have people come to me unhappy with their current seo, they went to some place that you can advertise for staff or workers, made an ad, and took the lowest bid they received,
and wonder why after 8 months, they still can’t find their website in search engines or that all the visitors are coming from the wrong part of the world.

It’s no good if your business offers a local service to only San Diego Clients if your website ranks highly in India, or New York, or even Los Angles for that matter. You want your business website to reach out to clients you can sell your service to.

I say in my signature below, that I’m not cheap, but I get results, I have had mature websites, ranking in top search engine positions, within 2 days of starting their optimization. Not for every phrase, Google doesn’t go through a whole website that quickly, and thats impossible anyway, to rank highly for every single keyword, but results started appearing with 2 days. At most on a website that has been online for say at least a year, the first results start appearing in a week and usually settle down to where they are going to stay without more tweaking within 6 weeks.

Well I signed up with Spoke, but it seems you find out after jumping through all their hoops, that the only way to do anything is to pay for it…. Darn, I NEVER pay for anything online, until I see what they really have to offer, there are just too many ripoff places out there, and my feeling is, if you can’t even have a few days free full membership, to see whats for offer, then it isn’t worth paying for, cause they are hiding something.

Anyway, I wrote a pretty good intro, so thought I would post it here, so you can read a bit more about me and what I so.

I’ve recently done a marketing study for a business that sells fish bait, looking at all forms of advertising and working out where their advertising dollar could best be spent. There were some surprising results, well surprising for the client anyway, no I must admit I was shocked at the total.

For advertising in Fishing magazines, in Yellow pages, newspapers and paid placement adverts online, the bill for a years advertising was just over $1.250,000 and even that was conservative, and at the end of that year this amount would need to be repeated.

I initially told the client before I worked out the advertising budget, that if he used 2 months of his first years advertising total on SEO, he could ensure his site would have top placement for several hundred keywords and phrases.

However, after I had worked out the advertising campaign, I revised my quote quite drastically, telling him that for just the last 5 figures, I could have his site ranking extremely highly for thousands of keywords and that once the work was done, the number of visitors visiting his site would stay basically the same, increasing more over time as the site and products got well known.

It certainly would be exciting to get an seo job, that I could work on fulltime with no limits, just to see what huge results I could get.

In this time of economic crises businesses are looking at the ways they are spending money, and seeing that often their websites are bringing in the business they had hoped.

SEO is just a big game, and you want to be the winner.

I have a new SEO client that’s thrilled that after his new optimized website has been online for only 5 days, he’s #1 for all the keyphrases he wanted to be ranked well for, when we started his site couldn’t be found in the first 100 search engine results. This client did his own SEO with my help.

Like I said he’s jazzed about being #1 for all these phrases, and I offered to show him, how he could improve the phrases that say at #5 and get them upto #1. A few posts ago, I wrote about a couple of websites selling giftboxes using google adword (they the sponsored links you see in google searches) since then I have noticed this is quite common, websites that have obviously paid for what they thought was seo, and yet still having to use google adwords, and paying top dollar for the top position on search pages.

Whats going on, are there so many cowboy SEO out there, that these sites are just getting ripped off, the sites I’m talking about now, are very professional looking, as were the ones I saw a couple of days ago, they are not so site slapped together by the a cousin of one of the workers friends or anything, they are top notch designs.

No wonder some people have a bad or negative view of SEO, I’m not saying this because I do SEO, but I truly feel bad about the sort of SEO work being done by these cowboys, from these high price web designers.

It makes me wonder I tell you. I’m thinking of offering offering a money back guarantee, that the SEO work I will do will definitely attract more targeted visitors, and that the SERP’s (Search Engines Results Page) will list there site for a spefic number of phrases.

It really isn’t a hard guarantee to keep, if you are an honest SEO, and actually do the work you’re being paid to do, oh sure some keywords or phrases maybe impossible to reach #1 ranking for but getting a result within the first 10 results isn’t that differecult. I guess the way to make a money back guarantee would be to come t an agreement with the website owner, on what words at least need to reach page one of the SERP’s, and stay there for at least 2 months… if a phrase stays there for two months, it generally stays there for a year at least, depending on the competitors of course and if they have a good SEO work on their site.

As I said the other day the gift box website I do SEO for has gained #1 ranking for the word boxes, as well as many many other searched for keywords and keyphrases.
In fact of the 757 keywords and key phrases used by searches in mainly, New Zealand, Australia, England, USA, the 4 main English speaking country’s, the words and phrases they used to find her website in the past 30 days according to Google Analytics 378 of them appeared in the first 10 rankings of page 1 of google.co.nz

I was talking to the owner of this giftbox and hamper website just today, and she’s decided to sell the business, ask it’s value has increased so much since the website is now attracting so many visitors resulting in untold sales. I have been working on that website since mid September last year, just 9 months. Instead of investing in a lot of SEO work at once which could be an investment of $2000 or more, depending on the size of the website, and the work that needs doing, I have quite a few clients who own small websites, who invest a small amount each month and I make small changes to their website, and do SEO at a slower pace. This ongoing work means their websites stay ranking highly in search engines.

This system helps first the client but also me, clients find it much easy to set aside a regular monthly amount and on my part it’s good to know there is a regular income happening each month. I of course have regular clients who have had SEO work done, and I tweak their sites each month but this system is different.

For people who maybe aren’t sure if seo will help, or that just can’t invest in a lot of seo work at this time this system works well.

I have mentioned before that I have a goal of earning a regular income of $2000 USD a month, this doesn’t of course count the one off jobs I do, although they amount to much more than this, I also want that regular income, so if there’s a slow month, like January is, I know I have work to carry on until the next big job comes in. I often find that these regular clients get extra work done between the big jobs.

Many people still don’t get how the internet works, and still look for someone to make their website or do SEO on their website, someone that lives locally. Yet there is no need what-so-ever.

So if their are so many sleazy SEO out their, how do you tell them from the good ones.

1. A good SEO won’t give you a quote before they know all the details about your website and what results you want to achieve, unless that quote is for at least multiple $10,000.

2. A good SEO will usually talk in words you understand, rather than try to boggle you with geek speak.

3. A good SEO will probably ask you your budget, and work within that budget.

4. A good SEO will ask you a lot of questions, you may think some questions are odd, but the less guesswork a SEO has to do the more likely you are to get a good job.

5. A good SEO will invite you to ring them to discuss your needs. Although a lot of work from home’s myself included, don’t like to give out their home address, honest people are quite happy to give out their phone numbers… ring them, at least once to confirm that the number they gave is the correct one. A landline number is perferable over a cell phone one.

6. A good SEO will never make rash promises, like yes I can get you to #1 position especially before they have researched the phrases you are after.

7. A good SEO will always ask if they can have access to the geeky side of a website, before they give you a quote, remember this, before you get a quote, you SEO should know if they can have access to the backend of the website… this doesn’t mean that they have to be able to access it, but if they can’t the SEO work that has to be done is quite different, much more time consuming so will cost more, or the type of work they do is the sleazy type, that can be turned off if you stop paying the monthly SEO fee, that might not have been mentioned in the original quote.

8. A good SEO will always be happy to answer your questions, and will be happy for you to question them, I have had a client say they were going to contact someone that knew SEO, I gave them all my contact details to pass onto their friend. Good SEO have nothing to hide about their work.

SEO isn’t a one off thing that can be done, that works the same with every website, sure there are some things that every website needs, but each website, in my experience is unique, even two website selling the same thing.
SEO is an ongoing process, and although some SEO make one charge which includes the ongoing work, if you see or hear an SEO saying, your site will take a week or a month to do then be weary.

Ask your SEO what they are going to do to your website, then contact someone like me, offer to pay me $100 to look over their list, I promise you the $100 you pay me will be the best money you ever spend. Cause if there’s something sleazy in there, I’ll pick them up on it. Often it’s the way something is worded, not what it says that’s the tip off. And very often people that don’t speak you native language will take advantage of this.

When the gods want to punish you…..

This story is an all-too-common one.

Making the google page rank the highest it can be is the hardest job for an SEO to do. It takes many many hours of work. And the higher the page rank is, the higher the website will rank for popular keywords.

I have seen many many SEO’s that have made deals with the owners of large websites with High Page ranks, that allow the SEO can add links to their clients website, passing the high Pagerank along the SEO’s client. The owners of the big sites can get paid upwards of $800 a month for these links which is pretty good money, when you think that they could have 10 or 20 different links from the same SEO.

Anyway, these same SEO’s charge many thousands of dollars to their clients to first raise their Page Rank, when all they did was add the link to say 20 pages of the high ranking website, then $2000-4000 each month to upkeep the SEO for the site.

The problem comes when the website owner doesn’t want to keep paying the $2000-4000 then suddenly the links are gone from the high ranking website, the page rank of the website drops, and suddenly they can’t find their website in search engines.

What choice does the website owner have but to go back to the SEO, who has by then raised their prices, and ask them to take them back on as clients. I have talked to people of SEO forums that have spent 30-40 thousand dollars in the past 12 months, just getting the SEO to take them back on as clients.

When I do SEO for a client, I make sure that the work I do will last for years after I stop doing the SEO. The only time they might lose a position is when a website selling the exact same thing get’s there website SEO’ed. I have two sites that sell gemstones that I do SEO for and I make sure they will both get high ranking for different keyphrases, so they don’t conpete with each other.

It would be very easy to do SEO for 20 or so sites that have the exact same product, and not have them competing in search engines.

Optimizing a Large E-commerce Website for Google

This site has been optimized for Google in particular.

The site sells gemstones; the average price for one gemstone is around $120.

When this client first came to us, they had had a website for 2 years, and
had not had a single sale.

We redesigned the website, making the buying process as simple as possible using PayPal, and made the site look very professional (trustworthy).

We also did some basic SEO work on the site as we were building it and built the site on a CMS so the client could add and change new products herself.
The client prefers to get us to design other pages on her website, as she knows she isn’t a web designer, and wants her site to stay looking professional. Her site updates, as with any of our clients are done within 24 hours.

They had their first sale 1 month to the day after the new site was online.

Within 10 weeks they had enough sales to have paid for the site redesign and SEO.

The owner was very proactive, and went about finding link exchanges for the site, and promoting the website anyway she could.

Feb 06. 18 months later she asked me if I could do anything to increase the visitors to the site, they were getting sales, but the sales were irregular and they could easily manage to fill more orders.

At that stage they just gotten 1809 in Jan 06.

The client couldn’t spend too much at that stage to pay me for my work, so we agreed to 1 hour a month SEO work.

Immediately there was an increase of traffic to the site of just over 600 visitors a month.

In November 06, I did 3 hours SEO work on the site, which resulted in an increase of 1200 new visitors that month. It could be said that Nov – Dec would attract more visitors anyway, however that wasn’t the case the year before.

Since the New Year 07 I have been doing just 2 hours a month, and visitors have increased by almost 1000 that month by May 07.

Sales have increased threefold since January 06 at a steady rate.

In early March I submitted this sites details to 300 directory’s since this is the type of site that people would look for in directory’s.

Since the submission were all free, none with reciprocal links, the submissions were not accepted immediately, but directories always check the sites before acceptance them so the numbers increased artificially for that month.

April the submissions started being accepted, and I attribute some of May’s visitors to those directory listings. April being Tax month, is historically a bad month for this and many other none essential products websites. If you look at the image to the right you will see the statistics for this site from Oct 06 to Oct 07.

But just looking at these statistics, you can see that the increase in hours and the directory submission has definitely paid off. 11220 Visitors in Oct 07

I just checked the word boxes and it’s at #6 on page 1 of google.co.nz “the Web” search and #8 on page 1 for “Search New Zealand”

That’s darn good, I’m so good… hehehe…. that particular keyword wasn’t anywhere in the first 1000 results when I started, and ranking so well for a single keyword is really good. And of course you know about all the key phrases that are at at #1

I’ve done some more work on that word today, so it should come up a little higher yet. I will be interested to see where your site is by April next year as well.
